Inside Leyborn Idle: XP and Mastery Systems

What We Did

Experience now flows through a unified system that handles both skill XP and individual mastery.
Each skill tracks its overall level, while every item or node related to that skill builds its own mastery rank based on use.

This creates two overlapping layers of growth:

  • Skills: Represent player progression across a discipline (e.g. Mining, Smithing).
  • Mastery: Represents expertise with specific items or resources within that skill.

The XP curve automatically adjusts difficulty across levels, creating a smooth but rewarding climb without abrupt jumps.

Why It Matters

  • Depth and replayability: Mastery adds long-term goals beyond simply unlocking new content.
  • Player agency: Every repeated action contributes meaningfully to progress.
  • Design scalability: The same structure supports future systems like crafting, enchanting, and harvesting.
  • Consistency: A single curve governs both skill and mastery growth, keeping progression transparent and predictable.

Next Steps

Extend mastery tracking to all production skills and connect mastery milestones to bonuses such as speed, yield, and quality.
